Cheminova was established in 1986 with the objective of manufacturing and marketing agrochemicals. Over the last decade Cheminova has gained a strong foothold in the Indian pesticide market and has built a good export base across the globe. The growing demand and acceptance of the Cheminova’s branded products and services has led into backward integration to manufacture high quality intermediates and technical grade products especially in the organophosphorous segment – the company currently accounts for about five percent of the Indian agrochemical market.

Cheminova is the 100 per cent subsidiary of the Danish pesticide and insecticide giant Cheminova Agro A/S (1999 Sales Turnover – DKK 2500 Mio) and has two plants in Panoli (Gujarat) manufacturing Technicals, Formulations and Intermediates.

  1. Technicals – Cheminova’s manufacturing capabilities include Monocrotophos. Phosphamidon, Dichlorovos, Chlorpyriphos, Quinalphos and Acephate
  2. Intermediates – produces two major intermediates like phosphorous trichloride and trimethyl phosphite for captive consumption
  3. Formulations – the most significant share of Cheminova’s business is generated in formulations that are accepted throughout the country for the control of insects and diseases in many crop segments.
 

Cheminova’s Brands:

Several of Cheminova’s products enjoy strong brand equity in the Indian marketplace. Some of them are Lupus, Classic, Vazra and Lucid. The company has 20 other brands to cater to plantations and to farmers growing rice, wheat, cotton, oil seeds, pulses, spices, fruits and vegetables

 

Distribution:

Cheminova has established an intensive network of 24 depots / C&F agents who are in close proximity with the farmers. These depots / C&F cater to 2000 distributors who in turn supply to over 30,000 retail outlets all over the country.

  2. Cheminova India had Fox based legacy systems for payroll, financial accounting and depot management and inventory system in Novell platform. One of its group companies in Denmark Hardi Inc A/S is using Baan

  3. Why was Baan selected?
  4. According to Mr. Navin Singh, Sr GM-Finance, Cheminova India, "We evaluated SAP, and Scala besides Baan. We selected Baan because it could be implemented fast and was very cost-effective compared to the others."

  5. Highlights of Implementation
  6. Big Bang Implementation went live in nine months.This is the first site in Asia where a depot management interface has been developed between Baan and other software like Opel (Depot Management) and Focus (Payroll System). These run on a centralised server with VSAT connectivity to the remote users.

  7. Scale Of Implementation
  8. Headquarters in Mumbai is linked with the factory at Panoli (380 KMs) in Gujarat through VSAT (PAMA Links) with a central server.
